The following databases and websites are based on Species File Software: |

Arthropoda Species File |
The Arthropoda Species File serves as a bridge for convenient movement between several other species files. There is no expectation that this species file will contain a significant amount of data. |
Polyneoptera
Species File |
The Polyneoptera Species File serves as a bridge for convenient movement between several other species files. In addition, it contains some details for orders that are too small to justify a separate database and website. |
Blattodea
Species File |
The Blattodea Species File (BSF) is a taxonomic database of the scientific names of the world's cockroaches (order Blattodea or Blattaria), excluding fossil species and the termites. Note that until recently the termites were treated as a separate order, Isoptera, but recent work confirms that they are a lineage of cockroaches. The BSF has full synonymic information for about 4,560 valid cockroach species and it currently contains a total of approximately 6,420 scientific names (all ranks, valid and not valid). In the future we aim to include (amongst other things) images of specimens in museums (especially types), plus pictures of living cockroaches in the wild and in captivity. |
Dermaptera
Species File |
Development of the Dermaptera Species File website and database has begun. It will contain taxonomic information about earwigs. |
Mantodea
Species File |
The Mantodea Species File (MSF) is a taxonomic database of the world's praying mantids (Order Mantodea), both of fossil and living species. The MSF has full synonymic and taxonomic information for over 2,400 valid species. A future aim of this database is to provide images of the specimens deposited in museums worldwide (especially types), as well as pictures of living praying mantids in the wild and in captivity.
This database originated with Otte and Spearman`s (2005) Mantida Species File catalog. |
Orthoptera
Species File |
The Orthoptera Species File is a taxonomic database of the world's Orthoptera (grasshoppers, locusts, katydids and crickets), both living and fossil. It has full synonymic and taxonomic information for more than 24,250 valid species, 40,800 taxonomic names, 152,100 citations to 12,100 references, 55,000 images, 186 sound recordings, 39,900 specimens, and keys to 2,500 taxa. |
Phasmida
Species File |
The Phasmida Species File (PSF) is a taxonomic database of the world's Phasmida (stick and leaf insects, known as walking sticks and walking leaves in the U.S.). It contains full synonymic and taxonomic information for over 3,400 valid species and over 4,300 taxonomic names (all ranks, valid and not valid). There are over 24,000 citations to references. There are also images for many species. |

Plecoptera
Species File |
Welcome to the homepage of the Plecoptera Species File website. The website includes valid names, their synonyms, and links to references for stonefly species of the world. Soon, morphological, biogeographical, ecological, and behavioral information will be available. The Plecoptera Species File website includes valid names, their synonyms, and links to references for stonefly species of the world. Soon, morphological, biogeographical, ecological, and behavioral information will be available.Names were graciously provided by Joel Hallan and are current through 2007. Valid species names are now available. Synonyms will be provided later. The Plecoptera Species File will be merged with the data in Prof. Peter Zwick's electronic catalogue by mid-2008, improving this resource tremendously. Other stonefly systematists are encouraged to assume an active role in the maintenance of this resource. |

Paraneoptera
Species File |
The Paraneoptera Species File serves as a bridge for convenient movement among the Coreidae Species File, the Psocodea Species File, and other files at higher levels. There are no current plans for work on Thysanoptera, the third order within the group, or for work on Hemiptera other than Coreidae. |
Aphid
Species File |
Development of the Aphid Species File website and database has begun. It will contain taxonomic information for the plant lice or small plant-feeding insects of the superfamily Aphidoidea. |
